As founder and president of College Inspired, Mike has been successfully advising students through the college admissions process for the past 20 years. During this time, he has worked with more than 400 students.

​

Prior to this, Mike was a director with The Princeton Review and worked closely with the California Department of Education’s College Preparation Partnership Program to help over 15,000 students at 60 high schools prepare for college.

​

Mike is also a distinguished speaker who has been invited to speak to families about college admissions at more than 80 high schools throughout Southern California. He served as a volunteer for the nonprofit organization Peer Forward, and is currently a member of the Orange County National College Fair Planning Committee.

Alanna Mori, Director of College Counseling

Alanna has been with College Inspired since 2011. Previously, she was an SAT Master Instructor and an LSAT and MCAT Verbal Instructor for The Princeton Review. A native of the San Gabriel Valley, Alanna is familiar with local high schools and the wide range of colleges and universities across the country their students are interested in.

​

Having worked with high school students for so long, she has a vested interest in their success and can easily connect with their experiences during the essay writing and editing process. From studying children’s literature and popular culture in graduate school to serving as an alumni interviewer for Duke University to volunteering as an event supervisor for Science Olympiad, Alanna applies all of these interests to helping students define themselves in the college admissions process.

Nathaniel Cayanan, Writing Consultant

Nathaniel joined College Inspired in 2011, consulting with high school students in their application essays.  For the last decade, he also has been teaching students in the high school and college levels for various institutions, such as The Princeton Review, University of Southern California, Santa Monica College, and Irvine Valley College, where he is currently an Adjunct Instructor of Academic Writing.

In addition to his experience in helping students with their writing, he himself writes for the Pasadena Independent, for which he reviews plays and interviews theatre personalities.
